Ann Coulter Thinks Women Shouldn't Vote

Basically, Ann Coulter says nasty things in order to get attention.

If we took away women’s right to vote, we’d never have to worry about another Democrat president. It’s kind of a pipe dream, it’s a personal fantasy of mine, but I don’t think it’s going to happen.

The context doesn't really make it any better, either. No surprise.

Stupid, stupid, stupid

The benchmarks for progress that are included in the war spending bill that was passed yesterday are insane. They link reconstruction funds to the Iraq government's progress. Not military aid or troop presence, but reconstruction aid.

In other words, if the Iraq government doesn't make progress fast enough, we're going to stop rebuilding all of the stuff we broke when we overthrew their government. The very aid they need in order to make progress of any kind of the aid we will be withdrawing.

We won't be withdrawing troops, though. So, reconstruction efforts will fail, and violence and anti-American sentiment in Iraq will simply grow worse. This will convince US politicians that the war effort in Iraq is all the more critical, because if we don't settle things, Iraq will become a staging ground for terrorism against the United States.

Where's the rational thinking there? Where's the sanity?

Write-On Sucks

I've been working on the Write-On Competition this week. I wish-I really wish-that I was doing pretty much anything else. All I'm saying is that I really hope that I get on a dang journal and that the resume bullet is worth something this fall when I interview for a job.

Finished!

I took my last final exam yesterday, and that wraps up my 1L year at Georgetown. One down, two to go. It's crazy.

I still have the law-journal write-on competition which starts this weekend, and that's a pretty demanding, high-stress thing. I'd really like to get on Law Review, but so would everyone else...

Anyway, it's good to know that I can play video games with impunity.

The Sampo

I started yet another new blog, called The Sampo. It’ll be my project for the summer- poetry, mostly. It might not all be good, but I hope to be prolific if not brilliant.

I’ll post some stuff there to get it started (old poetry), but don’t expect it to really take off running with new material for a few weeks. I hope you enjoy, but again, it’ll really be for me anyway.

Justice League #8

Mine came in the mail today. I'm way behind- I haven't read since issue 3, I think, but I have them all stacked up and ready to read as soon as I get around to it. I hope they're good. The first issue had me hooked, but the second and third issues didn't seem to be as good. A vety Red Tornado-centered story, and Red Tornado isn;t a favorite of mine.

I also got the new Green Arrow the other day, but haven't read it. I heart Green Arrow.

Finished!

I pretty much stayed up all night working on my exam. I tried to go to bed with two out of three questions finished (I was intimidated and frustrated by the third question such that I left an obscene message to it on my gmail chat, much to my embarrasment when I forgot to change it this morning), but I was so hopped up on coffee that I couldn;t sleep. My body was so unbelievably tired, though.

So I got up and decided to work on the third question. I basically vomited words onto the screen, misspelling everything badly, until I had written three pages or so, could no longer think clearly at all, and decided to just go to bed.

The next morning, I went to go look at what I had written, and it was actually good stuff! I polished it up and took it to campus to turn it in. The rest of the day was a no-thinking-about-law school-day. Today, though, I'm on to studying for the next exam...

Get Off My Property!

My 24-hour Property exam just started eleven minutes ago. I am now in the law library, settling down to attack the exam like a mad water buffalo for four to six hours, and then I will go home, eat dinner, and then stress out about the exam for the rest of the evening, while I play video games.

I haven't studied as well as I should have, but it's a 24-hour take-home exam! Three questions, 4500 words. If I don't know some common law principle inside and out, I have plenty of time to sit down with ol' Emmanuel and work it out. Shoot, I can go back and read a case again if I need to.

Oh well. I plan on being thorough. Hopefully raw talent will see me through. I've been monstrously stressed about this exam for weeks, and I'm glad to finally be sitting down to it.
